ITEM : 2 track single in original company sleeve
ARTIST : The Black Diamonds SONGS : See The Way / I Want, Need, Love YouINFO : Promo issue of what is amongst the Holy Grail of Aussie rock singles. Super hard to find at anytime this is the first of only two 45's (both produced by Pat Aulton) from this Lithgow based outfit before morphing into the proggish-rock 'Tymepiece'. Clips of both these songs can be caught on you tube. A review of this blistering single reads as follows :-
.. released in December 1966, this debut could scarcely have been more impressive or more original. The A-side is the ebullient, surf-tinged "See The Way", which sounds like the grandaddy of The Church's "Already Yesterday" although it precedes it by more than a decade. It's also vaguely reminiscent of The Troggs "A Girl Like You", but in this writer's opinion it's superior in almost every way, and Olly's guitar solo is a real corker.
The ball-tearing B-side is their indelible 'garage' classic "I Want, Need, Love You", which easily ranks alongside any contemporary track by overseas groups, such as The Yardbirds' "Happpenings Ten Years Time Ago". Its frenetic power sets it apart from almost anything else committed to record in Australia at the time, except The Missing Links' "Drivin Me Insane" and The Wild Cherries' "Krome Plated Yabby". The Easybeats later named the Black Diamonds as the best support act they had ever played with....
CONDITION :
Vinyl : A few light handling marks of no concern. There is also a small patch of what I can only best describe as very minimal haze on Side One .. more like a light sprinkle or smear that is barely noticeable however needs to be mentioned all the same. Fortunately, both songs here track through as clear as a bell with no lead in/out hiss, no background noise throughout and of course no pops, clicks or skips. So on looks a VG+ however the audio is very pleasing and closer to EX for mine. Labels : Clean with promo sticker. Sleeve : VG+ easily. Showing signs of its age however no writing or splits. Presents very well. POSTAGE : I pack safely & securely and combine postage costs for multiple items.This item will be sent 'Australia Post Domestic Registered Package with Tracking and Signature Required'.
