Description

This is the rare vinyl release of Beck's 1998 LP Mutations (+ FREE 2 track 7" single!)

The Bong Load label had permission to press and release Beck's vinyl output (while Geffen pressed up and released the CDs). In 1998 i waited an age before i could finally pick up this Bong Load release (BL 39) from Spillers Records in Cardiff - but what a package it is!

Pressed on heavy 180 gm wax and containing a free 2 track 7", this is what vinyl buying should be all about. The sleeve and vinyl are in perfect shape. The cover has no creases, tears or marks - it is in shop bought condition. The vinyl is also 'as new', no scratches, marks or surface noise. Inside the free 7" single is also MINT, and housed in it's poly sleeve. The free single is worth admission alone, coming in a beautiful fold out sleeve of Tim Hawkinson artworks and installations. The fold out also contains all the lyrics - and is a beautiful addition to the package.

Tracklisting:

Side A. 1. Cold brains 2. Nobody's fault but my own 3. Lazy flies 4. Canceled check 5. We live again 6. Tropicalia

Side B. 1. Dead melodies 2. Bottle of blues 3. O Maria 4. Sing it again 5. Static

Free 7" Side 1. Diamond Bollocks b/w Side 2. Runners dial zero (BL 40 is the cat no.)

So - that's 13 tracks of wonderful lo-fi decay, brilliantly produced by Nigel Godrich (Radiohead). This, to my mind, is the best of Beck's albums. It was never intended as a full, polished album follow up to Odelay, but with Godrich at the helm turned into a down beat, lo-fi masterpiece of it's own

Fantastically rare, especially in this beautiful condition
