READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles-Rel. LP SCARCE The “In” Sound U.S. Army 1967 Radio Show feat. “All You Need is Love”
"Good Morning, Vietnam-esque" Radio Show!
Deep-cuts Beatles collectors will know this radio show from the 1968 Kenny Everett interview in London with John Lennon, in which Everett asked John whether The Beatles’ success surprises him anymore.
John’s response was that he was very pleased that “last year, ‘All You Need is Love’ was voted Favorite Song of the summer by American soldiers fighting in Vietnam. It gives me hope, and I’m pleased we give them hope.”
This was the radio show John was referring to. The “In” Sound radio shows are still findable. But this one in particular is almost impossible now, because of the copies that have landed in collectors’ hands.
This copy stands out, because it still has the original 1967 cue sheet that was mainly discarded after broadcast.
Contains a near-complete playing of “All You Need is Love.”
Vinyl--- NM/ EX. With the exceptions of some fine hairlines on Side 2, this copy looks like it really was broadcast once.
Plates--- FS6RC ARMY 460-A USA IS 57/ FS6RC ARMY 460-B USA IS 57B
Cover--- Excellent. A small amount of dirtwear, one-inch split to the center spine. Date penciled in at the top right corner, 8-21-67.
Cue Sheet--- NM. Found tucked inside the cover for 56 years, the cue sheet is nearly perfect.
Labels--- NM/ NM.
Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
