Rare 1st pressing of the Beatles " Please Please Me " on Parlophone PMC 1202
This mono copy has the rare Gold/black labels with Dick James publishing credits on the songs Please Please Me, I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Do You Want To Know a Secret and There's a Place which on second pressings were changed to Northern Songs.
The E.J.Day cover has the "flipback" style constuction. Hopefully you can see that the front is in real nice shape with minor creases and small corner ( all 4) wear. The back shows that the bottom flap has some peeling and a name written at the top. I grade the cover a VG overall.
The record itself has issues. It has been played alot with numerous scratches, no sheen or lustre. Despite the awful appearance, it plays with surprising fidelity with a minimum of surface noise and audible ticks. There are no skips or jumps. I grade the vinyl as G (+) with the plus being the sound quality.
The labels are faded somewhat with considerable spindle wear which suggests that it was left on the record player for quite some time.
If you want a mint copy, then don't bid on this one. If you want a copy that plays pretty damn well and fills a huge gap in any serious Beatles collection then here's your chance. There is no reserve and the bidding starts low!
