Description

Here's a rare Dylan-related item for all you hard-core completist collectors. I haven't seen any info about this one on the web anywhere. This is an April 1962 Columbia demonstration record (XSM-55655/55656), featuring stereo excerpts from current albums. Most of the tracks are schlock or classical, but at the end of side one is a Dylan track. Actually, it's one track comprised of stereo excerpts from three songs off Dylan's 1st album: "Talkin' New York," "Fixin' To Die," and "Gospel Plow." Each of these plays for about 2 minutes before fading out. Interestingly, the album title that these are supposedly excerpted from is listed as "Freewheeling," though the catalog numbers are correct for Dylan's first LP, which came out in March of 1962. "Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" didn't come out until 1963, and had none of these excerpted songs on it. Though there's no date on the record itself, all the other albums excerpted seem to have been released in Spring 1962. This record came in a plain white paper sleeve- no jacket. Not sure if there ever was a jacket, but I suspect not.

This record comes from the estate of a woman who worked for Columbia in the 1960s. Please see my other auctions for a few other Columbia promo items from the same estate.

Your high bid on this item implies that you agree to trust (based on my feedback record) that I will in fact ship your unprotected item, and that if it does not show up, then the USPS alone is to blame for losing it. PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED WITHIN 10 DAYS of the end of the auction or you risk forfeiting the item and receiving negative feedback. Winning bidders who have excessive negative feedback may be subject to more stringent contact & payment deadlines at my discretion. Personal checks take 10 days to clear.

I usually make my weekly post office run on Thursday evenings, and your item will ship on the next closest run I make. Note that even for money orders and PayPal payments this may mean several days' delay before I actually ship the item.

Once you receive the item and you are satisfied with the transaction, please let me know by leaving positive feedback for me, and I will reciprocate. If, for some reason, you are not satisfied with the item, send me an email and I'm sure we can work out a solution to the problem without the need for negative feedback on either end!
