BLACK SABBATH, PARANOID, 1970 VERTIGO SWIRL *1st PRESS* Here is an almost perfect pressing of this classic one of the hardest Sabbath LP's to find as true 1st pressing i have highighted the differences below .
- The Side B label has a large Vertigo Swirl logo (42mm diameter) as opposed to the smaller 31mm diameter logo of later issues.rin
- The VERTIGO print on the Side B label is at the bottom of the label rather than under the Swirl logo as on later pressings
- The P1970 date text on the Side B label is above 33 1/3 rather than underneath as on later pressings
- On the original very first press visually there is no seperation between tracks 2 and 3 on side B. This was also corrected for the second press run.
- Swirl inner has patent NO 800513 & 973939 with made in England and B 1/0470.
- Big Bear/Jim Simpson credit on inner Gatefold he was sacked as their manager as the LP was released and only the very first sleeves have this credit.
- Both sides have the -1 matrix only found on 1st pressings.
Please check my other auctions there are many more similar items they all come from my Late Fathers personal collection he was a very fastidious collector all were played once at most and some not at all then taped and stored away.
CONDITION
Sleeve
Unlaminated sleeve is very prone to wear but this copy is very clean just a tiny bit of rubbing to bottom seam and corner otherwise Ex+ to near mint,the only flaw is a couple of tiny scuffs on inner Gatefold one of the best copies you will find anywhere.
Inner
Inner is near mint almost perfect no splits or tears.
Vinyl and labels
Vinyl is stunning as i removed it from the inner i couldnt believe the pristine quality totally unmarked no scuffs,marks or any blemishes,labels are Near mint maybe 1 or 2 spindle marks only .
