BEE GEES World Tour Flight Case

Measures: 835mm (L) x 420mm (H) x 255mm (D).

Believed to be for a Roland Space Echo (or similar), as one just fits in the main compartment, with a smaller

compartment for cables etc.

Black and white, with "Protex" type corners, butterfly catches and carrying handle. Foam lined.

Condition. It is complete with no significant damage, but of course shows the signs of having been used by a band on a world tour. Has a couple of airline shipping labels. The box is a little soiled, but I have always resisted the temptation to clean it, as I regarded this as damaging its authenticity.

How I came by this item

This item of Music Memorabilia was given to me by Blue Weaver in 1981 at his London home in South Parade, Bedford Park (near Chiswick). Mick "Blue" Weaver, previously with Amen Corner (amongst others) had been working with The Bee Gees for some time. This is how I came by this item:

The keyboard player in my Show Band, Steve Allen, had answered a classified advertisement in the music press (as I recall it was Melody Maker) advertising for sale a Sequential Circuits Prophet 10 synthesizer. Unbeknown to us initially, the advert had been placed by Blue Weaver, original member of the 60s band "Amen Corner", who had been recently working with The Bee Gees. Steve had asked me to drive him to London in my car to view the synthesizer, and, on the way to London I asked him who was the seller of the Synthesizer. He told me it was a chap called "Blue Weaver". Steve, being considerably younger than I, had not realised the significance of his answer. I recognised the name immediately as I was a teenager in the sixties around the time of Amen Corner.

At the time of our visit Blue was living in a large and quite impressive house near Chiswick. The walls of the main hallway were decked with framed gold discs illustrating his involvement with many different artists, including The Bee Gees. On the back of his house was his own mini recording studio.

We spent about a hour or so at Blue Weaver’s house whilst he instructed Steve on many of the functions of the "Prophet". He explained to us that he was selling it because he had bought a Fairlight, then a new innovation in synthesizer technology based on a 8-bit computer. Having paid for the synthesizer we loaded it into my car, and, just before we left Blue said to me "hang on a minute I’ve got something for you", he went into his garage, reappeared and presented me with this flight case as a thank-you for providing the transport that had facilitated the sale of his Prophet 10. He explained to me that the case had been used on a fairly recent Bee Gees World Tour. I have treasured this item ever since. Now, due to my impending emigration, I must reluctantly sell it as it is too large to take with me.

This is an absolutely true story, and in no way fabricated.

Packing & Postage

Ideally this item should be collected, however I am prepared to ship it to the buyer if required. Please note however that I accept no responsibility for loss or damage in transit, as stated in my terms and conditions, so the buyer should satisfy him/herself that in transit insurance is adequate before payment and dispatch of the item.

Having looked at the various options I have quoted postage and packing based on the Parcelforce 48 service. This offers a guaranteed 2 day delivery, is tracked and offers up to £150 in compensation. There are cheaper options (eg. Standard Parcels), but I considered Parcelforce 48 to be the best for an item of this value.

All my items for sale are described as accurately and honestly as possible. If you require more information about a particular item then please send me an email. If you are not satisfied with the condition of your purchase then please contact me. I appreciate email feedback from my customers that their purchase met with their expectations (The latter is not a condition, purely a preference).

My packing and postage policy:

I always endeavour to only charge what it costs to pack and send.

All items are packed very well using adequate suitable packing materials.

I strive to dispatch items within 1 to 2 days after the receipt of cleared payment, and to notify my customer (normally by email) when goods have been dispatched.

As a rule I send items within the UK by standard mail service, having added a minimal amount for safe and secure packing. Delivery aim is quoted at 3 days, and compensation up to £34. If you require a faster or more secure delivery service, or additional delivery insurance, then please contact me before you make your payment as I will need to add any additional cost to the delivery charge. I am prepared to send items overseas, but only providing that the buyer is prepared to meet the full cost of packing and shipping, this includes any additional charges that may be incurred. It should also be remembered that in some cases more comprehensive packing may be required for overseas shipment, this may make the overall shipment heavier and thus more expensive to send. In such instances I require the buyer to hold payment until the full cost of sending has been established, in order that it can be added to the price of the purchase.

I do not accept responsibility for items lost or damaged in transit, but should a claim for compensation against the carrier be available to the buyer then my pledge is to provide all the necessary information that is available to me in order to support the claim.

The last option, to which I have no objection, is for the buyer to collect their purchase from my home. In such circumstances there is no charge for postage/packing and the buyer may pay for the item on collection, in this instance I will accept a cash only payment. If you are collecting from my home then I require this to be done promptly. Please also note that under no circumstances will I entertain a renegotiation of the price if you are collecting from my home, and I will expect to be paid the full bid price.

If you purchase more than 1 item from me at more or less the same time, and they can be packed and dispatched to you together, then I will adjust the packing and postage charge accordingly. If you have purchased an item from me that has not yet been dispatched, and you are bidding in a further auction of mine that is not completed, then, at your request, I will hold your first purchase until the subsequent auction is complete, thus enabling your purchases to be sent together and potentially reducing the delivery cost to you. I can only do this if the items are suitable for packing together, which is not always the case.

Payment options:

I accept PayPal (preferred), personal cheque, postal orders (or cash only if you collect your goods from my home). I require payment to be made promptly after the close of the auction (preferably within 2 days, but no more than 7 days). Whatever method of payment you choose please remember that I do not dispatch purchases until payment has cleared.
