Retro-Vintage-Classics returns after family illness to provide you with some fantastic Albums from predominantly, the Sixties and Seventies.

This is a marvellous opportunity to obtain a near perfect copy of One of the rarer Albums by the Beatles. It is the notorious Loud Cut Mono Version of “Rubber Soul”, which was the first pressing of this ground breaking album in 1965.

As above states, this copy has wonderful playback quality and according to the record grading system below, I would grade it as Excellent.

The outer sleeve is also within a similar grading criterium, as it has minimal detioration. It resembles a sleeve that has been appropriately looked after.

The front cover still holds its vibrant colours and is free from laminate cracks. (These cracks evident if the cover has been mis-treated, even over a short period of time) There is a hint of laminate ring wear and must clarify it by using a range from 1 to 5. (1 = slight ring wear to 5 = laminate cracks where ring wear has damaged the laminate in the shape of the circumference of the record inside.) Therefore I would grade it critically at 1.5. In-fact, the front cover should be graded overall as Excellent, conservatively, for your peace of mind. It has a few slight, non-penetrative indentations on the cover but these by no means are potential laminate splits.

The rear Ernest J. Day sleeve is bright and white, with perfect bold clarity to the text. It’s great to see this rarer Ernest J. Day cover with unfaded clarity it possesses. Ranging it from 1 –5, (1 = Weak, 5 = strong and bold) I would grade it has 4.5. It holds “Ernest J. Day co. Ltd” text on the lower right flipback margin, and the Gramophone Co. Ltd.” Text above the same flipback on the left. The “Rubber Soul” text running vertically down the Spine is in perfect, unworn and unfaded condition. The corners are virtually bump and crush free. Only very minor bumping.

The original Emitex inner is also present, and, it is in Excellent condition with a few creases but absolutely no Seams splits or tears.

The Vinyls are superb. The visual clarity that represents previous good care is perfectly apparent. Both sides have been played at estimate, around 15 – 20 times and this is represented by its minor spiders trails around the centre hole. However, the “Parlophone” text on the label is near perfect. The depth of colour and Tone are rich and bright. All text is bold and perfectly legible. The KT Tax code has no wear at all, The Black surface that usually wares away to Silver, is still Black and Bold.

The Vinyls themselves are in a great condition, with again, Very Minor surface Wear. That of a Record that has only been played 15 – 20 times Est.

The clarity to the sound is Amazing. Sincerely, its playback quality is wonderful to hear. Track by Track, it fails to detiorate and I have to emphasise the ultimate satisfaction to its delvery without distortion, throughout the whole Album. Yes, both sides I would grade 9 out of 10 for clearness and clarity. Additionally, even the usual distortion between tracks is minimal, and the track “Michelle” with its low and Moody sections has hardly any distortion. It has some barely audible interference, this must be clarified so to specify the appropriate informed purchase.

The record may show some signs of having been played, possibly with light surface marks or fingerprints but there is no appreciable lessening in sound quality.
The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

There may be fairly visible surface markings under bright light but the sound quality if the record is not adversely affected.
The Cover and inserts may have noticeable light creasing or "foxing" due to dampness but they are all present and intact.

The record has obviously been played a lot, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite surface marks and some light scratches. Also Use this grading where the record has suffered perhaps one more visible scratch, but is otherwise in EX or better condition.
The cover may be creased a little and/or frayed at the opening. You should itemize any more serious damage such as tears.

Buying or selling anything in less than VG condition is not recommended, if you sell records in worse condition, expect some to get returned, even if your descriptions were honest.

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has been affected noticeably, perhaps with some distortion and clicks due to scratches. The main place to use this classification is for picture discs, where the sound deteriorates more quickly with use.
The cover and inserts may be folded, have minor tears and/or splits at the edges, they have not been looked after.

FAIR

F

The record is still just playable, but has not looked after there is a lot surface noise, it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced, possibly with chunks missing.
