This 3rd UK pressing of 'Please Please Me' is the very first Yellow & Black label mono pressing of the LP i.e. the first after the Gold & Black label; and is considered to be rarest Yellow & Black mono pressing.


This pressing is characterised by having an extra '331/3' number on the labels - erroneously left over from the earlier black & gold pressings. It was no longer required as the new Yellow & Black labels had a large 331/3 printed above the yellow PARLOPHONE text - so it was removed shortly after and does not appear on subsequent pressings. 

According to the UK's Rare Record Price Guide,  only around 5,000 of these were pressed before the 331/3 label error was removed. 

Cover: 1st pressing E J Day 'Gold' cover with the Angus McBean credit to the far right. Laminated front and unlaminated rear with the flatter triple flip-backs. No writings or doodles. Small scuff to top right corner of the front cover. Some tape on the base flip-back on the rear cover. See photos.
Inner Sleeve: Original EMITEX inner sleeve is Excellent. Just a little creasing.
Labels: VG+. Has the mega rare extra 331/3 numbering on the label after the XEX 421 & 2 on both sides. Only a few were pressed before the error was noticed and rectified.  Has the earliest 'ZT' tax code.
Vinyl: Play tested. Looks and plays VG. Retains quite a nice sheen. There are a couple of scuffs and hairline scratches but it plays well for a 56 year old record. No skips or jumps on my system. The "Ask Me Why" track has the most scuffing but even this plays OK with just the odd click. This record had not been played for many years before being play tested, so it might benefit from a light clean to bring up to its best.
