ARTISTE, RECORD TITLE AND LABEL
ATOMIC ROOSTER "Made In England"
Dawn DNLS 3038 (pressed in England)
An original 1972 Dawn LP housed in a single plain white jacket which in turn is placed within the 'Denim' bag which has the printed sticker intact. It has the fold out insert. However, that has a major soiling at the left corner at the back white backround.
UK buyers please also note that I am based in Singapore but the system assumes that as a seller on Ebay,UK should indicate a UK postage cost of 4GBP which may not even cover surface postage let alone registration (ie tracking). Please read my shipping section below
Bidders who are viewing this on Ebay, US & Canada please note that I originally listed this under Ebay, UK where I ticked the item condition as 'used'. I did exercise the option of listing it under Ebay, US & Canada(for a fee of course!). Somehow, these listings are appearing under Ebay US & Canada as 'like new'. I cant seem to change it under this site as the revision mode brings me back to Ebay, UK(where it was originally listed) and where the condition is stated as 'used'! It should read as 'used'.
GRADING RESULTS:
The denim jacket is graded as VG++. There are some light stains at the reverse as well as some fraying of the threads at the sides. .
The vinyl looks free of lines though there are some light scuff marks. It maintains its lustre and is absolutely brilliant. Tracking at 1.7g with a Lyra Helikon SL cartridge mounted on a Linn LP12/Naim ARO tonearm, there was some rather audible extraneous surface noise for about 2 minutes at the opening track on side 1 which caused the playing to be between VG+ to VG++. It declined after that and the remaining tracks played Excellent. There was also some extraneous surface noise at the start of side 1 but it was greatly lesser and the playing on that side was generally Excellent.
How I Clean and Grade my Records
Cleaning: Cleaning is usually done on a Loricraft PRC 4 cleaning machine using the US made Walker Audio 3 stage cleaning solution.
Playback Equipment: Playback is through a Linn LP12 turntable/Armeggedon/Naim Aro tonearm/Lyra Helikon SL cartridge and through a brace of active Naim 250s/135s into Naim DBL speakers. For 45s I use a second Linn/Lingo/Aro/Linn Troika though I change them occasionally as the arm tubes can be easily transferred from one deck to another.
I use both Goldmine and Rare Record Price Guide grading system as a guide and came up with the following:
· Mint I only use this for sealed items. The record is virtually unplayed and is in a brand new condition. Cover is pristine. Up till now, I have never used this grading and, chances are, never will, due to my conservative nature in matters of record grading.
· Near Mint Very little or negligible flaws. Faint lines or very faint creasing on laminated covers visible under a strong light is acceptable but nothing serious. Records which show some signs of having been played such as very faint spindle marks are allowed but there should be no lessening in sound quality. .
· Excellent Item obviously played, though not often, and enjoyed with some slight noise. The record should be nice and shiny but may have a few light marks which should not intrude on play. Slight wear on cover is acceptable.
· Very Good Many more imperfections which are noticeable but not obtrusive. The record has been played several times but there should be no major deterioration in sound quality despite some noticeable surface marks and light scratches. Normal wear and tear or writings on the cover is acceptable but there should not be any major tears.
I do not offer any records below Very Good unless its extremely rare.
