Description
ATOMIC ROOSTER: Made In England (Dawn, DNLS 3038, 1972).
Stupidly rare original and COMPLETE copy. Dawn went to town on the packaging, but didn't do quite the same when it came to the marketing! The single from this, Stand By Me, was thought by all and sundry to be a guaranteed hit (even Ronco put it on one of their hits compilation), only it wasn't and this LP was a fairly slow seller. So, in its denim sleeve, which came in several colours - this one is brown - it is rare enough as it is, but complete in its original plastic bag is incredibly rare.
I was taken to task by several people for claiming the outer carrier bag to be original, but on asking drummer, Ric Parnell, about this in 2020, he concurred about this being the original packaging in the UK.
Apart from the plastic bag and the denim outer sleeve, this also includes the plain white sleeve and insert. I got the insert autographed by Chris Farlowe in 1982, at the short-lived Dingwalls, Bristol. (Trivia: his support and backing band that night was was Gonzales, minus the horn section.)
The plastic bag is looking its age but is complete with no splits. The denim outer sleeve is a bit 'threadbare' in places and has artist and title written on it (if you're brave enough to put it in a washing machine it *might* come off, only I wouldn't risk it). The plain white sleeve is a bit age stained. Insert is VG except for a sticker stain. It is also autographed by Chris Farlowe, though I don't suppose this counts as 'damage'! The record has some light surface marks and side 1 plays at a nice VG to EX, as does side 2, except there is a small pressing fault on side 2 (fleck in the vinyl) that causes a short bout of light 'thuds'. There is another short bout of three clicks on side 2. Overall, rather nice.
* * * * Records generally have hairline marks from going in and out of sleeves - I do not mention these unless they cause audible noise. All records are play tested unless explicitly stated otherwise. Most of the records I am selling play at "Excellent" or "Very Good" as per Record Collector grading. Any specific defects are otherwise described in the listing. Please look at the photos carefully for condition of sleeves/labels.
All items won, up to a value of £50.00, will be sent as Royal Mail 'signed for'. If items are bid above £50.00 (or multiple items combine to more than £50), they will be sent as Royal Mail Special Delivery, so that parcels are correctly insured against loss or damage in transit.
****If you win multiple items, please wait for me to invoice with correct postage. Note that postage costs include packaging costs. Where possible, packaging is recycled but sturdy/secure.
Combined postage **for UK buyers only** - 6 single LPs cost the same to post as 1 single LP. Note that if you win items in multiple formats (e.g., an LP and a CD) I cannot combine postage (though I can bundle up 7" records with an LP).
**Non-UK bidders** please note I use eBay's Global Shipping Programme, which means every item won has to be packaged and sent separately. Combined postage is not possible.
Non-paying high bidders will be blocked from bidding on future items.
* * * * All items are from my own collection unless stated. Most has been in storage for over 20 years. Lockdowns made me wonder why I have multiple copies of records that I will never listen to. There are about 8,000 more items to come from my rambling progressive, jazz fusion, folk, blues, 1950s stereo classical and easy listening, psychedelic, reggae, ambient, spoken word, comedy, railway, field recordings, electronic and occasionally just plain 'out there' collection.
