Description
This is singer Elaine LaZizza’s own copy of the mega-rare Asylum “First And Last” album(No label NR3217). This acclaimed guitar psych LP from 1973 is a top-flight rarity and has sold for more than $1000 on eBay in the past.
Disc is astrong VG++ to Ex with a few light marks, and plays with slight background crackle due to the low-budget private pressing. Sleeve is also VG++ to Ex withslight ringwear and some spine and edge wear, particularly to the lower right corner. As a bonus, the sleeve is clearly autographed by Elaine on the reverse.
The auction also includes a sealed copy of the World In Sound reissue, which has sold for $75 alone on eBay.
As the reissue’s informative insert states:“This is an excellent and almost unknown nine-track hippie album, privately recorded and pressed in 1973. The band was founded by Fork Union Military Academy school members in Virginia around 1970 – the music room of the school became their 'refuge' from the predictable, regimented military school life. The music, in a Jefferson Airplane or HP Lovecraft vein, is true sixties West Coast psychedelic garagefolk stuff. The electric cuts such as ‘I Want You Every Day’, ‘Sometimes’, ‘IWill Be Free’, ‘Deliverance’ and ‘Help Me Be Someone’ feature great guitar workand excellent drumming and organ. The acoustic tunes sometimes recall David& Tina Meltzer’s Serpent Power.”
