DESCRIPTION:  Rare Dial D-2 three 10" 78 rpm album set - volume 2, "Be-bop Jazz -- With All The Stars of the New Movement" from 1948.  Less common blue cover version of this set.  Contains Dial 78s 1020, 1021, and 1022 with performances by Charlie Parker, Dexter Gordon, Howard McGhee, Sonny Berman, etc. 

The cover has a lot of spots and stains on the inside (see pics). Cover art is by Wally Berman. 

I just listened to the set.  Records play at about about a V grade, the surface noise wasn't overly distracting, but was certainly audible.  I was surprised that it sounds better than it looks.

Visually, it's probably G+ or G, there is not an over abundance of groove wear, but there is a lot of scuffing and scratches leading to the surface noise.
 

78 GRADING:  We use the universally recognized VJM (Vintage Jazz Mart) 78 rpm system in grading our 78s  We grade conservatively, and if upon receipt you feel the record has been improperly graded, you may return it for a full refund no questions asked.  

E+
Highest grade used. A record that might have minor handling marks but has no visible signs of wear.  N, N- and E+ records will all be graded as E+.

E
Record has slight signs of handling and use but groove wear should be barely detectable and grooves should still be glossy and black.

E-
Light groove wear with grey rubbing and light circular gray grooves starting to appear, but record should still retain glossy black grooves for almost all of the surface.

V+
Grey wear, handling and groove wear more apparent, but much of the groove area will still have black.

V
Record is approaching an overall grey surface with uniform wear, but will still play well even though the level of surface noise and distortion could be distracting.

V-
Record has wear throughout, and was subject to continual playing to wring more sound out of it, so even the grey is in a more advanced state of deterioration with groove walls disappearing.

Grading Standards

Near Mint (nm) Almost New. Might have a slight paper scuff or one non-sounding hairline. Plays with no noise that is due to visible imperfections. Highest grade I use.

Very Good++ (Vg++) Very Clean Records, Well taken care of. Just a couple light scuffs or hairlines. Plays extremely well.

Very Good+ (Vg+) Well taken care of. A few scuffs, possibly a few light scratches and marks. Minimum of distracting noise.

Very Good (Vg) Not especially well taken care of, but not abused either. Light scratches, scuffs and marks. Plays with some background noise but is still enjoyable and collectible. Some gloss. I normally do not sell records in this condition
