Description

I offer from my personal collection, these great and very desirable Program Transcription Discs. There are seven discs total. I have owned these for about 25 years. They were found in the bottom of an Orthophonic Victor Credenza at a local auction in Stoystown, PA. Records such as these RARELY come on the market so here is a chance to own some really great discs. The records all date from the early 1930s and I believe they are all from 1931. Many of the tunes on these date from 1931. These records were not for home use but they probably got played on the phonograph they were in. These discs were pressed by the Columbia Phonograph Company in Hollywood, CA. They say "Hollywood Variety Productions" on the labels. Each side of each disc says "Running Time 5 minutes" except the disc that is one sided, it says "Running Time 3 minutes". All seven records are performed by Earl Burtnett and His Orchestra with The Biltmore Trio. These discs play superb on modern equipment and all of them have great dance orchestra music on them! You will really enjoy this music, it is superb! I do not have pictures of all seven discs on because they are all identical labels except for the information on the titles. All sections are listed, you will recieve ALL SEVEN discs should you be the lucky winner of this auction. Six discs are two sided and one is one sided. I will now provide information on each disc and condition of each disc:

Disc 1: Program 14 Theme Song - "Some Sweet Day". This disc is the one sided one. It has the Columbia "Magic Notes" pressed on the other side. The record has a chip on the edge but does not come even close to the playing area. Grade E+

Disc 2: Program 15A and 15B - A side has "Hurt" & "Do You Ever Think Of Me?" B side has "Love For Sale" & "St. Louis Blues". Grade E with very light wear on A side.

Disc 3: Program 23A and 23B A side has "Religion Is Rhythm" & "Thanks To You" B side has "Consolation". Grade E+ plays great.

Disc 4: Program 21A and 21B A side has "Egyptian Ella" & "Would You Like To Take A Walk" B side has "I Left My Gal In Memphis" & "It Had To Be You". Grade E+

Disc 5: Program 26A and 26B A side has "She Went Havana" B side has "By The River Sainte Marie" & "Reaching For The Moon" Grade E+

Disc 6: Program 27A and 27B A side has "One More Time" & "When I Take My Sugar To Tea" B side has "You're The One I Care For & "Toot Toot Tootsie" Grade E+

Disc 7: Program 20A and 20B A side has "Dark Eyes" & "Cuddle Up A Little Closer" B side has "Just Another Love Affair" & "I Surrender" Grade E with light wear on A side and an edge flake affecting about five grooves. B side is unaffected by this flaw. The "I Surrender" selection is the famous selection recorded by Bing with Gus Arnheim on Victor.

I have collected piano rolls, 78 records, phonographs and pianos all of my life. I am going to offer more great records soon. Thanks to all my great customers and friends. I send my best wishes to all of you for 2006! This auction has a reasonable starting bid and no reserve. Bid to own. Thanks for viewing my auction and good luck.
