Description
Here for sale is an ultra rare test pressing double album from an extremely collectable band, The Velvet Underground with Lou Reed. Both the band and the album have legendary status amongst fans and collectors, with the '1969' album being included in the Spin magazines top 100 alternative albums of all time in 1995.
"1969: Velvet Underground Live, a two-record set released in 1974, is the best and most compelling (legally released) document of the band's powers in concert"
I have been unable to find anything at all about this record on the internet after days of research. It is not to be confused with the much more common US, white label release. It is presumed to be a UK copy, as it shares the same catalogue numbers on the sleeves as the UK release (Mercury 6641 900). However the matrix numbers are: 9198029 & 9198030. It is a white label TEST PRESSING with the numbers 1 and 2 printed on either side of both records. The sleeve is in 2 separate pieces (NOT broken/torn), as is usual for test pressings, to display what the artwork will look like on the final release.
I am a frequent seller on Discogs with over 500+ feedback, with a 100% positive feedback score. I use the Goldmine standard grading system as used on Discogs. This item, as can be seen from the photos, is in superb condition, with the media (records) being Near Mint (NM) with just 2 small inaudable marks on record 1 - side 1. The labels are all extremely clean and the records all sound excellent. Remember this is a live recording from 1969 and as such the RECORDING might have some noise, however there is no noticeable noise on the VINYLS themselves. The sleeves are in very good plus (VG+) condition for a record of this age, produced before the final release copy which was released in 1974. They have no writing, stickers, stains or tears at all! Just some light creasing and wear on the edges. Please see the photos above and below for the condition. I am always honest and have tried to show the marks as best as possible. Please ask any questions relating to the grading system or the condition of the vinyl and sleeves.
From various websites (e.g. PopSike and Discogs) this item has never been sold! As such this item is likely to be extremely rare and therefore hugely collectable. Not to be missed!
DELIVERY - Please ignore the postage costs (will not be free), this is just to stick to ebay's rules. Please await an invoice at the end of the auction as the price will vary due to the compensation required and the postal destination.
The record will be sent at cost price, no additional handling charges or anything similar will be applied. It will be sent via fully insured confirmed delivery. International orders are more than welcome.
Thanks and happy bidding.
