The ROCKETTES : I CAN'T FORGET / LOVE NOBODY , original 1953 45 RPM pressing on the Parrot Label, # 789.
One of the rarest Doo Wop / R&B singles out there... this the rare 45 version of the only known Rockettes single. The Chicago based Doo-Wop quartet featured a female lead on "Love Nobody" , and a male tenor lead on "I Can't Forget"... the names of both of which (as well as the other two members) are unknown, though the songs were attributed to one "A.Dixon" on both sides of the label. The group was backed by the inimitable drummer Red Saunders, with Sonny Cohn on trumpet, Earl Washington on Piano, Leon Washington on Tenor Sax, Jimmy Richardson on bass, and a lead guitarist known only as "Mr. Four To The Bar". The record was released in November 1953.... one of the earliest ( I forget... 8th, 9th?) released on the Parrot label.
As to condition: It would be difficult to imagine finding a better example. The disc retains full gloss, and but for a couple of tiny hairline scratches on the label (only) at left side on the "I Can't Forget" side and a small mark next to the hole at 9:00 on the same side, there is virtually no evidence of play.... NO scratches, rubs, stains, fading, mars, rings, writing, warps, or marks.... I sincerely doubt if the disc was played, but if so maybe once, and very carefully and respectfully so. The "Love Nobody" side has a completely unmarred, pristine label as well, and both sides feature bold, clean silver "Parrot" logos and print on a clean, dark red/maroon background. I think a very solid NM, certainly at least VG++/NM-.
A true "Investment Grade" example of one of the rarest discs of the Doo Wop genre....
~Great stuff!~

As always: NO RESERVE!!Winning bidder pays $5.00 for securely packaged Priority Mail shipping and handling to destinations within in the U.S.
Foreign customers are welcomed, but should be aware that shipping will likely be more, and in some cases substantially so. All payments must be in U.S. $ funds, payable in the U.S.. Most items shipping out of the U.S. must ship via Airmail or Global Priority, rather than by surface mail. I do make exceptions for some sturdy/ heavy items (books, large magazine lots, etc).
I accept money orders, checks, and Paypal.. Paypal users: Due to the rapidly worsening rate of chargeback fraud and identity theft throughout the world, ALL Paypal payments must be made to a confirmed address, unless there is a demonstrable track record of active Paypal use of at least 3 months, or prior approval has been obtained from me . I have always resisted having a bunch of rules ....but this is a necessary step. Please take a moment to visit the Paypal discussion board sometime (accessible through the "Community" link at the top of this page) if you have never done so, which should provide ample demonstration for the reasons that I now believe this rule to be necessary for our mutual protection.
If you are the winning bidder , you can go ahead and pay per the payment instructions you will receive from Ebay provided you are a U.S. resident and shipping will be in the U.S. If you will require shipping out of the U.S., please send me an email at the conclusion of the auction with your address, so that the correct shipping charge can be determined.
Finally, please note that I am always happy to combine multiple bid wins to help reduce shipping costs. So please check my other auctions for similar items!
