Description
1924 saw the birth a the world's smallest playable disc record ever made and listed in the Guinnes Book of Records until now. It was made by the British Gramophone Company Ltd. together with a complete little victrola in the scale of 1/12th of the original HMV Cabinet Grand Model 200 as part of the furniture for Queen Mary's doll's house. 70 (!) people were altogether involved in this project. Six different little records, all 1 5/16" in diameter were recorded, which all were playable on the little victrola, of course. Before ending up in Windsor Castle, the the victrola and records were displayed at the Gramophone Companie's exhibit at the British Empire Exhibition in Wembley in 1924. They aroused so much attention that the Gramophone Co. decided to produce replicas of one of the records - "God Save the King" - and sell them to the public at a price of 6d. each. A British newspaper article from 1976 claims that only 250 copies were available.
Both, record and envelope, are in good shape and will come with copies of the documentation on the record as seen in the listed pictures. Buyer pays shipping. I accept PayPal and Western Union money orders.
