ZOMBIES – ODESSEY AND ORACLE LP

The Zombies were a fabulous 60’s band who, at the time,  never really achieved the success they undoubtedly deserved. In fact, they had split up before this album was even released – but what an album it is ! With Colin Blunstone’s gorgeous breathy vocals and beautiful songs with superb melodies, every track is a pure delight. Highlights include the brilliant single TIME OF THE SEASON,  the complex,  psych tinged HUNG UP ON A DREAM with its rich orchestration and dreamy vocals, lovely harmonies of A ROSE FOR EMILY, the stunning BEECHWOOD PARK, joyous I WANT HER SHE WANTS ME,  catchy BUTCHERS TALE (WESTERN FRONT 1914) with its fairground organ and the exquisite CARE OF CELL 44.

It was released in 1968 on CBS  and this is the STEREO version with the two cat nos. S63280 and BPG 63280 (see photos) and I believe it to be an ORIGINAL release (I assume the S cat no. indicates that it is stereo, although it also has a "STEREO" sticker on the back cover !).  The beautiful psychedelic sleeve is in lovely condition with the laminated front having hardly any creasing or ring-wear at all ! The vinyl is also in wonderful order – lovely and glossy and virtually unmarked (just the usual and inevitable few very small, surface lines we see on practically all records which should not affect play at all). Overall this is an outstanding example of one of  the classic albums of the sixties, which is now becoming increasingly rare and collectable.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED – As a record collector for many years, I know only too well that, despite the various systems now used, grading remains largely subjective, everyone essentially having their own ideas as to what NM-, EX+, VG++ etc. should  mean !   Instead,  I try to describe each individual record (via a visual inspection) as honestly and accurately as I can – perhaps to the point of being overly critical, as even new records, let alone those of 30-40 year vintage, can have some marks !  However, if  your standards are even higher and you are genuinely unhappy with my assessment, a refund of the purchase price will be given upon return of the record within 14 days, at buyer’s expense, in the same condition as sent. Please bear in mind that many (if not most !) vinyl records usually have at least one or two light surface marks (lines/scuffs/grazing) mainly from their paper inner-sleeves.  As these do not normally affect play at all, such slight imperfections may not necessarily be specifically mentioned in the item description.  Should you require clarification/confirmation on any point which might be of importance to you, please ask before placing a bid.
