Description
Up for auction is an extremely rare 1973 MONO promotional pressing of Yes' triple live album "Yessongs" that I was fortunate enough to find a few years ago and am now ready to part with.. These mono issues were not available commercially and only pressed in very small numbers specifically for AM radio stations still broadcasting in monaural format. The pressing/issuing of these mono promos ended in May 1973 making this title one of last ones pressed in this format, quite possibly the last one pressed since it was released on May 18, 1973. For a 48 year old record the vinyl is exceptionally clean and is visually graded as EX bordering on NM minus. There are a few paper scuffs on each of the 6 sides of the vinyl and a few hairlines that can only be seen under strong light. The play grade for all 6 sides of the vinyl discs is a solid EX+/NM- and sounds FANTASTIC in mono format. As most Yes fans are already aware of, the sound quality of this live release is not perfect. However, in this mono format the sound quality and overall fidelity is noticeably better and is the best format of this album that I have ever heard...and I've heard them all including the so-called "remastered" editions. For a triple gatefold cover from the early 1970s, it is in considerably better than average condition and is VG bordering on VG+. The incredible Roger Dean artwork on the inside of the gatefold is practically flawless and the spine is totally legible. This amazing copy also includes the original inner sleeves which are in EX condition apart from some seam splitting. This copy also includes the original booklet that came with early copies of this release. Not only would one be hard-pressed to find a mono promo copy of this lp at all but to find a copy in this condition would be next to impossible. (PLEASE SEE AND ZOOM IN ON PHOTOS).
