ULTRA RARE ORIGINAL...only about 500 copies were made in 1973, never available on the retail market other than some copies being sold in a local L.A. health food store/restaurant "The Aware Inn"

...This PRIVATE PRESSING on the HIGHER KEY label happens to be the very first (!) album recorded in 1973 by the legendary YA HO WAH 13 under the name of "The Spirit Of 76" ...

"KOHOUTEK"  epitomizes the insanity of highly-personalized psychedelic exploration via the fringes of rock music and it's subsequent private documentation better than anything else produced by the human race to date. Tribal-acid pound from the family's key group members (Djinn, guitar; Sunflower, bass; Octavius, drums) and freakish vocal output from Father Yod himself, wailing away on top like the king of the universe....

This is their very first LP and not a bad one to start with if you want to get into their drugged out L.A runaway kids acid cult basement guitar jams. Inspired by the appearance of the comet "Kohoutek", the family's bearded, middle-aged guru/leader Father Yod digs deep into his bag of tricks: "It's a thought projection from God". Father raps and howls in his unrestrained manner as the music goes through its typical raw acid-rock chameleon moves, building towards a nice climax with a doomy fuzz riff as the truth is laid down from above.

The LP was issued as by Father Yod & the Spirit Of 76; original copies have '3301' on the insert and '18574' in the matrix.

Here for best offer is one of the "rare" originals with insert & matrix numbers exactly as noted above, in MINT condition and still in original shrink wrapper.
