Description
This is a genuine first press of one of the rarest of The Beatles albums in stereo. It is from my personal collection and was originally purchased in 1963 on release. It hasn't been played for about 35 years, and the vinyl is consequently shiney and in good condition, although it needs a good anti-static clean. Superficial hairline marks over tracks 6 and 7 on side one. I can only report on the visual appearance of this album and can't report on the sound quality. But the album was made on a heavy vinyl pressing, hasn't been played at all for nearly four decades and appears to lack any significant damage.
The front cover is in a clean condition with a small chip out of the varnish on the opening edge, close to RIngo, and a half inch crack (front to back) just to the left of Lennon's cheek in the famous black and white cover photograph. There is slight ring pressure above George's head and some age discolouration on the back. Some handling marks on the opening edge. Otherwise the cover is good with no scratches, writing or splits. The Emitex inner sleeve has foxed slightly with age and has a small tear (about 1.25inch) on one side near the centre. It has been stored folded in at one corner.
Labels on both sides are clean and free of spindle marks or flaws. Side 2 has the inaccurate "Jobete" credit for "Money" and "You Really Gotta Hold On Me" for track three. The "all rights of the manufacturer" statement begins with "The Parlophone Co Ltd" . Made in Gt Britain in 6o'clock position and pressing numbers YEX 110 and YEX 111 on sides one and two respectively.
I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have on the condition of this rarity. The pressing is good and the cover is fair to good and has been stored in dry and clean conditions in a non-smoking environment. I have sold many classical music rarities over the past year and my feedback reflects my reliability as a seller. I always send out sleeves and records separated by cardboard spacers to avoid splitting and damage. Good luck in the bidding.
