Winston Richards [Roy Richards] – ‘Studio Blitz’ / Winston Richards [Winston Grennan] – ‘Don’t Give Up’ – Rio 124 (UK)
On the cusp of ska and rocksteady; these are two exceptional sounds from Studio 1 in their most attractive format, back-to-back on a UK Rio seven-inch in near unplayed condition. While credited to Winston Richards, these sides allegedly feature Roy Richards and Winston Grennan, none of whom needs any introduction. Richards, Jamaica’s finest harmonica player and a multi-instrumentalist to boot, is perhaps best known for ‘Freedom Blues’, but ‘Studio Blitz’ is another fine side. And the flip, featuring the vocals of master drumer Winston Grennan – player on more Jamaican classics than you could shake a stick at, as it were – is, if anything, even better. A wonderful record, and this is a top copy!
Condition: Excellent (please listen to the clips). Clean labels, three-pronged centre intact (please see scans).

Shipping from Sweden is quite expensive – though the rest of the world is surely catching up – not least due to the fact that the weight increments are few and far apart, but it’s usually swift and safe.
