Winston Francis LP - California Dreaming
ORIGINAL FACTORY MASTER PLATES!!!
On offer here is something truly unique!
These are the original master pressing plates that were used to press copies of the very rare and collectible Reggae /Ska LP 'California Dreaming' by Winston Francis back in 1971 on the Bamboo label!
There are two complete sets in this auction - One set of MASTER / FATHER / FIRST NEGATIVE plates and one set of MOTHER / POSITIVE plates! That's FOUR Plates in total! Read on...
The first set of two are the original MASTER Father plates that were created from the laquer-coated aluminium disc that the musical content was initially transferred onto from the master tapes using a lathe. These laquers were then used to create the Father, or master plates (the laquers ultimately being destroyed in the process)! Because of this these Father plates were mirrored, hence being known as 'First Negatives'.
Yep, you read that right! These master plates on offer for sale here are THE original plates that were used to create mother, and thus stamper sets of plates that were used to press this rare, collectible record! If you have a copy of this LP then there's a very real possibility that that originally came from THIS set of Father plates!
Not only that, but also included in this auction are two MOTHER Plates!! These were created from plating the First Negative / Father plates and were used to create Stamper plates which were used to press the musical content onto the vinyl discs!
Each box is correct for it's stamper plates and are marked on the top using yellow and blue tape to designate being either a Master or Positive plate. Each box carries its correct serial / matrix number of BDLPS 216 A-1 and BDLPS 216 B-1 in the top left corner. On the top right corner is the date of creation and storage. All four of these discs were 'grown' on 24-10-71 and were passed for storage on 25-10-71!
These really are a piece of unique musical history! These are a unique set of original metal stamper plates that were used in the factory to press a very rare and highly collectible reggae / ska LP! I doubt very much that any other sets exist today and so this could well be your only chance to own a set!!
