Description
Up for bid is a rare mono LP, "Speak No Evil," by Wayne Shorter, featuring Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Elvin Jones. See pictures for song list. This was released by Blue Note Records (BLP 4194). LP is VG+ overall with light scuffs on either side. This LP also has a couple of tiny light scratches on either side. This LP looks and sounds great - plays with some surface noise (some intermittent crackle, tics, and a couple of pops) but no skips. Surface noise may be greatly reduced with a professional clean. Interior labels are very clean. LP is very clean and retains a nice gloss. Interior labels have "New York USA" in the address. The address on the back of the jacket reads 43 West 61st St., New York 23. There is an etched ear and "Van Gelder" is stamped in the matrix on either side. Includes original interior paper sleeve, with "1939-1966 27 Years of Blue Note The First Name in Jazz" printed on the top of each side and "Blue Note Records Inc. 43 West 61st St., New York 23, NY" printed at the bottom of one side (see pictures). Jacket is VG+, with a couple of tiny seam splits on the top seam, each about 1/8 of an inch long. There is visible wear on the top and bottom seams. All corners show wear. There is ring wear on the front and back of the jacket. There appears to be factory press issues with the front artwork of the jacket and the interior labels. First of all - the front artwork isn't squared up. It has a small diagonal slant to the front bottom left side, and the info that is supposed to appear on the spine appears on the front of the jacket ("Wayne Shorter," "Blue Note," and 4194.") Also, on the interior label of side 1, the blue coloring is smeared and the "Blue Note" logo almost appears entirely blue instead of white. There are areas of the white portions of the interior label on this side that appear blue as well (see pictures). On side 2, the blue coloring along the top is smeared (see pictures of the top font, particularly "Microgroove Long Playing.") This all appears to be factory press related, perhaps someone at the factory was having an off day? Throughout the month of December I will be listing more extremely rare, hard to find titles in very nice shape - from the estate of a serious collector. Don't miss out of this rare gem!
