Description
Judge Rutherford recordings – complete talk Victory on 78 rpm
THIS MATERIAL IS NEARLY 80 YEARS OLD SO PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY.
Seven 12 inch 78 rpm records produced in 1939. The numbering is P-191 to P-204, making up 14 sides. They are backed as 1 and 3, 2 and 4, etc. (apart from the last odd disc) so that they could be played as a continuous whole if using two turntables. 13 sides are the talk Victory, the final side (P-204) is Snare and a Racket.
Only two are in their original sleeves which features a portrait of J F Rutherford along with a collection of books (the “Rainbow” series). The rest are in plain brown paper sleeves.
No records are cracked, but they do have surface marks in places and a few scratches, as you might expect for items used in the witnesses’ ministry nearly 80 years ago. The records may well benefit from being “cleaned” and there are several tutorials on YouTube with “do’s” and “don’t’s” but I leave that for any new owner.
These recordings were used in the Model Study work. People heard presentations on record in the witnesses’ door to door work, and if they accepted a model study they would hear these recordings of talks from conventions. You would have a booklet with questions and model answers (Model Study 1, 2, or 3) a booklet with the text of the material, and then the recorded lecture which was played in stages.
This talk was given at Madison Square Gardens in 1939 as part of the same convention that featured Government and Peace (also in this auction).
The reserve price in this auction reflects the fact that the seller has to provide very specialized packaging for the records to travel safely by carrier. This special packaging is a cost I will cover. Each record will be separated by a special 12” square cardboard divider covered in bubble-wrap. The whole will then be taped together and sent in a specially obtained double-walled cardboard box 18” x 18” x 12”, packed out and suspended in polystyrene chips for extra safety.
The postal/carriage charges will be at cost. The rather expensive international postal charges quoted are for America. If purchasing from Australia it may be even higher, if purchasing from Europe it should be much lower, e.g. for France it should be about 25 GBP. (The total weight will be about 5 kilos and you have the dimensions of the box above if you want to check it out in advance for your part of the world). PLEASE WAIT FOR MY INVOICE IF YOU OBTAIN THESE ITEMS SO THAT CORRECT AND FAIR POSTAGE/CARRIAGE CHARGES CAN BE APPLIED. Please note that to send by carrier the company will require your email address and also a telephone number in case they have to contact you about delivery. They will also need to know if your address is residential or business.
