Worship Song "Devived"

Review by Vampire Magazine:

Despite all the talking and all the bullshit that has been spawned about Worship’s resurrection, I feel obliged to tell you that you all were wrong. Daniel is actually able to pull this all by his own, the song on this split 7”, “Devived” (note the palindrome!), can clearly be placed amongst my favorite Worship songs, “Worship”, and the cultish “The Whispering Gloom”. Basically the well-known Worship tradition is kept in honor for the few minutes the song lasts. That means very heavy funeral doom, without being very different from the rest of the bands in the genre Worship will always sound recognizably unique. The song has got that nice twist to it that makes Worship really a band that crawls amongst the best bands in the genre. Funeral doom is a genre that allows quite some experimentation, and that is exactly what Worship does on this track, after a few minutes of rather standard Worship-like doom metal, but when the end of the song comes in sight, it suddenly flows into an acoustic passage which is nothing short of being very much impressive. The acoustic steel string guitar breeds this very sad atmosphere with a very depressing and uncomfortable melody, I love to dwell in these songs. To be exact and conclusive, if this is what we have to expect from the new album then I am rather sure we have to prepare for a genre-classic!
