Description
Here is "Queen of the Moaners," EVA TAYLOR in her readings of two classic blues: King Oliver's "WEST END BLUES," and "HAVE YOU EVER FELT THAT WAY?" Accompanied by hubby CLARENCE WILLIAMS on piano, Eva is in her prime here.
This is one of the very few issues of "Race" music on Edison. Recorded at the end of July, 1929, this "Needle Cut" Edison 14046 comes from the very last days of the company, which folded in October. Thomas Edison only reluctantly embraced lateral-cut records, vastly preferring (and rightly, too!) the quality of his famous Diamond Discs. But he saw the writing on the wall, and so the "Needle Cut" Edison record was born. It lasted only about four months. This is Chicken Molars, I tell ya.
This original 1929 "Needle Cut" Edison 14046 is in V+ condition: slightly worn, but largely intact.

I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!
