One might expect a slightly more personal approach from the solo music of Watt than the work with Everything But The Girl by which he made his name, but 'Fever Dream' is notable for glancing notably close to the bone in its dealing with this ever-talented polymath's family and personal relationships. Nonetheless, it's more blessing than curse, a this second album -aided and abetted by the understated yet luminous guitar work of Bernard Butler - is as richly engaging as it is elegantly arranged, it's jazz and blues influenced strains proving that Watt's restrained delivery tends to result in an all the more potent emotional impact.
