  RECORD GRADING according to Goldmine Record Grading
  
  Mint (M)   Record appears to have never been played.  Perfect and records still sealed.  Rare to use this grading. 
  
  Near Mint (NM/M-)   Near perfect in appearance.  Shows no signs of obvious wear.  The sleeves should only show minor defects, barely there ring wear or only being slightly handled. . 
  
  Album covers should not creased, folded, or any of the seams split or noteable defects.  There should be no holes cut out.  Inserts, posters or sleeve lyrics should be in the same condition. 
  
  LPs should be in just-bought condition.

• Very Good Plus (VG+) Half as good as the mint condition.
  
  Shows signs of having been played, but taken care of.    Allowed slight scuffing, scratches which do not affect the playing of the record.   Could even have warps which are categorized in the same manner. 

• A little ring wear and discoloration is ok, but only slightly.  Center hole should be good. 

• Picture sleeves are allowed very light wear, corners may be up-turned and even a slightly splitting seam.  May have cut out holes, indented corner because of discount or no longer in print.

• This grading could almost qualify for near mint, except for the few additional faults.
  

• Very Good (VG)   More pronounced defect are found in this grading.  Obvious surface noise, noise in the beginning and then fading, but not loud enough to drown the lyrics.  Scratches are light, fingernail can feel them, but do cause the sound to be affected.
  
  The label may be written on and contain sticker and/or tape and/or sticker and/or tape residue remaining.  Also this applies to the covers of LPs and sleeve covers.  But this can only be limited to two of these conditions.
  
  Very Good is generally lowest priced vinyl.

• Good (G), Good Plus (G+)   Plays with no skips, but has much surface, much scratching, and groove wear which is visible. 
• 
  
• The picture sleeve and/or cover's seams may be split on the bottom/spine.  May possess ring wear, writings, and even tape, which could be overwhelming. 
• 
  
• If this vinyl is common, it's best not to purchase.  But if you really want it and have been looking for it for a long time, buy it, but keep looking for a better one. 
  
  Poor (P), Fair (F)   Vinyl is split, so warped, skips and repeats itself.  Water damage on sleeve, all seams are split, wrote all over and shows heavy wear.

• The cover can't hold the LP.  Split seams, wrinkled and writting all over.   
  
  Unless this record is rare, don't pay much for it.
