Description

Vitor (Victor) Assis Brasil
 "Desenhos" LP
Forma FE 1.017
First Pressing
[E]STEREO

Up for grabs is the insanely rare Coltrane-influenced first pressing debut of Brazilian saxophone virtuoso Vitor (Victor) Assis Brasil. It was released on the independent label Forma and was produced by Roberto Quartin. This is the super rare stereo pressing of which it is said that fewer copies were pressed than the more widely available mono copies. As noted, originally spelled Vitor, Assis led the aforementioned session on January 11, 1966 with his quartet which featured the amazing pianist Tenório Junior as well as highly-regarded double-bassist Edison Lôbo and the amazing drummer Chico Batera. Certainly, this is regarded as one of the greatest jazz albums ever recorded in Brazil. The LP comes housed in a typical Brazilian "sandwich" cover (i.e., the front and back covers are not glued together) as was common for that period. LP is shiny and still has a luster to it. The record is clean but has some wear. There are some marks and light scratches. This record plays VG+ or better. There are a few periodic pops. This disc looks like it has an enlarged part of the vinyl, like a pressing defect. But like I said, it's just a pop, no skips or jumps. Some light surface noise is present in quiet passages as well. The "sandwich" cover is in VG++ condition. It does have some ring wear. This sleeve is thin and flimsy. Please see pictures of ring wear, corner wear in lower right-hand corner and the tiny spot in the middle of left-side of back cover.  Overall, if you were waiting for a stellar copy of this holy grail jazz record, now is your time to buy.

Details:

Unless otherwise noted, records are original pressings, not reissues or bootlegs. I have played many of these records personally and taken the time give accurate grading. I played them on an Audio Technica AT-LP120. If you have better equipment, most of these will probably sound better than they did for me. What you are bidding on is an actual portrayal of what you will receive. I do my best to describe everything I sell in accurate and honest detail. If the items are listed as new, they are new. If items are used, I make every effort to be as precise as possible.  Please note that your bid is a contractual obligation to purchase said items. Payment is expected within three days after the end of the auction. At this time, I can only accept payment via Paypal but I WILL SHIP WORLDWIDE (with the exception of Italy, Africa, and a few other places that have postal issues). Items will be shipped within two to three business days after payment is complete. Please see my perfect feedback so you can have assurance that the transaction will be smooth as possible. If you note, when someone buys a record from me, the customer expresses adulation for the way I grade vinyl. Usually, they say the condition of the record is better than I described. Therefore, all items are sold as is and I cannot offer any refunds. Once you have received the item, please leave feedback as I will do the same. If there are any problems, contact before leaving negative feedback. We will be able to work out any problems without any difficulty.
