ANOTHER GREAT RECORD FROM THE VAULTS OF WHIRLING-DISC!
OVERSEAS BIDDERS MUST READ Do NOT send $5.00 as payment for a 45 after you receive an invoice from e bay. I can NOT send a 45 overseas for $6.00!!! Shipping overseas is $9.00 (Also read more about shipping overseas under notes below---important!). Always wait for a PERSONAL INVOICE FROM ME
Artist: Stop!!! Overseas Bidder??? Ignore the Standard International Shipping Price you see! Do NOT send payment until you receive a PERSONAL invoice from me (NOT the one from e bay--Overseas shipping is $9.00!!!) Failure to do this will result in you being charged the wrong amount for shipping! Now on to the artist: The Canadian Squires
Title: Leave Me Alone/Uh-Uh-UhThe Canadian Squires evolved from Ronnie Hawkins backing band THE HAWKS, who left Hawkins just months before this, their extremely rare FIRST 45 was released.
Label: Apex 76964
Vinyl Condition: NM! Looks virtually unplayed!
Label Condition: A/B labels are clean!
Pressing: Original Canadian! PLEASE READ THE NOTES BELOW! Very important to read the shipping notes, particularly as far as tracking numbers are concerned!!!!
Notes: Well, I probably don't have to give the knowledgeable Dylan and Hawks fans a history lesson on this group! Suffice it to say that this is just a monster rare Canadian collectible with strong ties to Bob Dylan and The Band in impeccable shape---don't snooze on this one---you may never see a cleaner copy! If you buy a record for more than $100, you MUST pay for a tracking number! Prices for these are ridiculous (set by Canada Post---not by me) U.S. tracking number is $17.00. Overseas tracking number is a whopping $47!!!! Yes, I will ship without a tracking number but ONLY if you send me an e mail absolving me of all responsibility in case a record does not arrive or is mysteriously lost. Will be listing some very nice Northern Soul records over the next few weeks so check back often! Sadly, Canada postage rates have gone up again (fortunately, nowhere near the outrageous prices they are charging to ship records from the USA) Will combine on shipping charges to save you $$! Check my other auctions for more collectible records!
After leaving Hawkins in 1964, the group toured on their own, usually billed as Levon and the Hawks. Personnel changed periodically, but by the time of this recording, all the members of the group that would go on to become the Band was in place, the same Band who backed Bob Dylan in the later 60's and went on to fame on their own.
Hawkins’ producer at Roulette, the legendary Henry Glover brought them into Bell Studios in New York to record two fine Robbie Robertson originals, “Leave Me Alone” and “Uh Uh Uh”, in the spring of 1965. Glover released these on the Ware label in the U.S.
Leave Me Alone represents a prime slice of raw garage and could be nothing further from the easy going sound they'd find years later as "the Band"
