GREETINGS TO YOU, THE FINDER OF POSSIBLY THE RAREST OFFICIAL BEATLES RELEASE ON VINYL... EVER!
The Beatles broke up in 1970. Books were written. Stories were told. But fans had no way to learn the official stories behind Beatles songs - until the 80's, when The Beatles approved this official anthology (a decade before The Anthology) that actually provides longer content than the Beatles Anthology - 30 episodes weighing in at 50 minutes each!
These vinyl records were ONLY GIVEN TO RADIO STATIONS - NEVER SOLD TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. And here's a secret: Most radio stations never played the records more than ONCE! They would immediately transfer the records to reel-to-reel so they could splice in commercials, and the records were placed in deep storage with absolutely NO wear and tear! THESE RECORDS ARE IN AMAZING CONDITION!
Here's a quote from a former radio station tech:
"Two different radio stations I worked at in the early, mid 1980s ran the documentary. I was in charge of dubbing the LPs to 1/2 track reel to reel tapes for use on-air. It was an excellent program covering all of the Beatles EMI/Apple tracks. The documentary even covered the early days of Apple playing tracks from James Taylor, Mary Hopkins, Badfinger, Billy Preston, Radha Krishna Temple, etc. The vinyl was very quiet too, IIRC."
So what exactly is on these records?
Simply, every song The Beatles ever played. In their entirety. In many cases, sourced from the master recordings. And then, the last 6 records in the collection track Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr in their solo careers. And ALMOST EVERY SINGLE SONG is introduced with a backstory or an interview quote from the original people involved.
But don't take my word for it - if you want to hear the first 8 records, you can! Another party started an attempt to archive these records years ago, and stopped at #8. Here they are: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/sidmchenry
What's in the box?
Here is your chance to collect one of the most rare, most complete sets of Beatles memorabilia!
- 30 Beatles The Days In Their Life LPs containing 30 "hour" episodes (with room left for commercials)
- Cue sheets that were used for techs and DJs to track the progress of the show for breaks.
- EXCLUSIVE: A promotional sheet that sells the radio show to station executives - I acquired this separately and am including it with this set.
