Description
ORIGINAL OWNER selling rare first issue BEATLES album.
I bought this album in Chicago when I was a high school kid that read about The Beatles in a Time Magazine article. This was slightly before they became popular in the USA. It has been in my possession for 45 years, except for a few months when I loaned it to my younger "Beatlemaniac" girl cousins. They returned it eventually but the record sustained some wear from the vigorous play the gals gave it. There are some scratches, however side one plays well. Side two, cut one, does have one skip and a noticeable "click" it the scratch site. This scratch runs into the first few groves of cut two also. There is also a crack at the outside edge that runs about one half of an inch into the record. So, it is not at all in mint condition.
The cover is in nice shape. The bottom spine is separated for about nine inches from the open end. Also, there is a missing part of the image to the right of Paul's leg. This may have been due to the tape that was used in the past to heal the tear in the spine. The tape residue is visible on the back side, but is not sticky.
The front left side of the cover has "Printed in U.S.A." printed vertically. Apparently, this is one of the first 6000 first editions produced by VeeJay.
The "trail off" area of the album has "AudioMatrix" stamping on both sides. On side one the "AudioMatrix" looks like a double stamping where the tool hopped when being struck. Also in this area is the letter "A" and some faint numbers (63-3403?) that look hand scribed. There also is some small mark that is not to me identifiable. It looks like the numbers 6969 written in Arabic script. That's my best guess.
Please ask if you have any questions. I'm new to selling stuff here so don't expect a slick operation. Guess I finally found something that was worth putting up here. Thanks!
