Vito Tommaso - Musica per commenti sonori

Italian pressing, Costanza (1969)

Very rare and seldom seen Costanza library from 1969, music by Vito Tommaso (Giovanni's brother), already composer of all the StereoKonitz tracks. Fabulous modal jazz\hard bop\bossa session with an uncredited jazz sextet. Personnell certainly include: Vito Tommaso (Piano, Organ), Giovanni Tommaso (Double bass), Franco Mondini (Drums) and Maurizio De Angelis (Guitar). Unkown trumpet, flute and tenor sax but the quality is impressive! (Rumors says Gato Barbieri).

The entire record is amazing: "Tornante" is killer hammond modal jazz with superb tenor sax work. Fantastic flute solos on the swingy "Sostenutino" (written by Stefano Torossi). "Very Nice" is a long bossa jazz with groovy hammond breaks. Hard bop with amazing trumpet solo on "Dizzyland", Brazilian tinged flute bossa again on "Con fiducia vers.2" (Torossi). Focus on guitar and flute on the moody jazz of "A presto". Maximum expression of that Gato Barbieri style tenor sax solo on the melancholic blues of "E' quasi Domenica".
