Description
Artist: Jackie Heller / Unknown
Title: Rum and Coke / Unknown
Item: 10" 78
Record Label & #: VOGUE / prototype test pressing
Condition: The record has some clouding in the plastic on the A-side. There is some pitting in the initial 1.5" of the records grooves. The record has a 4" crack around the run-in groove to the first play groove. That goes into a flake/crack (see photo) on the A-side. Overall the record is in VG- condition. Basically all the flaws appear to be manufacturing defects as opposed to neglect from a previous owner.
Comments: I had read an article where a former employee of Vogue talked about how on the production line doing test pressings, they would sometimes lay down sheets of newspaper or magazines to be used instead of the regular picture inserts. Here is one of those. It appears to be an advertisement page from a magazine on the flip side.
I would usually not list a record with a crack in this condition. But my guess is not many of these prototype test pressings left the factory back in 1946, this a very rare Vogue item. This, no doubt was taken from the factory by an employee. Not just because of what this is but what else it was found with it. And the fact that it came from Detroit, the home of Sav-Way(Vogue). See our other auctions for another RARE Vogue. The only known private issued Vogue.
**NOTE** This is a consignment item. The owner does not want to pay Paypal's high fees. So if you are the lucky winner, no paypal. I do not have an issue if you would like to use paypal and cover the fees yourself. But you will also be required to purchase insurance.
