GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge. I listen EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : Vladimir Cosma, uno dei più prolifici compositori di colonne sonore Francesi, in un'opera di grande fascino, piena di contenuti sonori sperimentali che riflettono certamente una sua visione dell'universo in termini di filosofia cosmologica senza tuttavia una completa eliminazione del lato umano qui considerato non come un'entità passiva a fenomeni inspiegabili o metafisici ma come anelito al superamento dello spazio finito che condiziona la sue aspirazioni più profonde. Così non parlarono Copernico, Giordano Bruno, Kant, Newton, Einstein, eccetera eccetera ma solo un modesto appassionato di musica: sono io, perdonatemi. Più che una vera e propria sonorizzazione dove frequentemente un brano è completamente slegato dal successivo preferirei parlare di concept album in cui ogni brano ruota intorno ad un solo tema. La "musique concrète" di Pierre Schaeffer e Pierre Henry basata sull'utilizzo dell’elettroacustica è la principale caratteristica sonora che possiamo ascoltare nell'album. Naturalmente Cosma elaborò sapientemente questa risorsa collegandola ad altre strutture musicali quali il jazz sotto il profilo della libera improvvisazione e la psichedelia intesa come fenomeno sonoro metafisico e pertanto irraggiungibile. Naturalmente qui non siamo in presenza di musiche jazz o psichedeliche in senso stretto ma ad alcune loro peculiarità strutturali. Sotto ogni titolo c'è un brevissimo commento o aforisma. Nell'elenco dei brani potete leggerlo tradotto in Italiano e in Inglese. Le distorsioni di un violoncello e di un violino che simulano anche il ronzio del calabrone, rarefatti effetti sonori, percussioni e cupa musicalità elettronica aprono il disco con "Impacts". Rintocchi sonori ossessivi, ripetitività e insistenza delle percussioni sono poi ospiti fissi di molti brani. Una mia personale scelta di alcune tracce: "Informatique" (a4), il primo dei tre brani dall’andamento vivace e l’unico che ispiri una certa allegria, caratterizzato da effetti sonori, basso e flauto. Il secondo brano dalla ritmica veloce ancor più del primo è "Mecanissimo" (a6) che si basa su un potente riff di basso, percussioni frenetiche e alcune note di pianoforte con una struttura complessiva vicina a quella del jazz d’avanguardia. "Batiskafka" (b1) dove metafisica e realtà s’incrociano grazie all'ottima combinazione di effetti sonori, organo, arpa, percussioni e gong. "Transmutation" (b3), sublime musica d’avanguardia dalle lente sonorità, "Obsexion" (b4), brano dinamico e nervoso per l'ossessiva ripetitività delle percussioni e degli strumenti a fiato con un pizzico di esoticità, "Etherisation" (b6) dalle belle note del flauto che segnalano la fine del viaggio musicale nel cosmo e il ritorno alla dimensione terrestre forse con qualche speranza in più.

Notes : Vladimir Cosma, one of the most prolific composers of French film scores, in a charming work full of experimental sound certainly reflecting his vision of the universe in terms of cosmological philosophy however without a complete suppression of the human side considered not as a passive entity in front of inexplicable or metaphysical phenomena but as longing to overcoming of the finite space which affects his highest aspirations. Thus did not speak Copernicus, Giordano Bruno, Kant, Newton, Einstein, etc., etc. but a modest music fan: it’s me, forgive me. More than a real music library where frequently a track is completely detached from the next, I would prefer to define it as a concept album where each track rotates around an only one theme. The French "musique concrète" by Pierre Schaeffer and Pierre Henry based on the use of electro-acoustics is the main feature we can hear on the album. Of course Cosma cleverly elaborated this resource by connecting to other music structures such as the jazz under the profile of free improvisation and the psychedelia intended as a metaphysical phenomenon and therefore unattainable. Of course we are not in the presence of jazz and psychedelic music in the stricter sense but in presence of some their compositional characteristics. Below of each title there is a very short comment or aphorism. In the track list you can read the Italian and English translation. The distortions of a cello and a violin simulating also the buzz of the bumble bee, rarefied sound effects, percussion and gloomy electronic musicality open the album with "Impacts". Obsessive sound chimes, repetitiveness and insistence of percussion are also regular guests of many tunes. My personal selection of some tracks: "Informatique" (a4), the first of three tunes from the lively development and the only one that inspires a certain gaiety, characterized by sound effects, bass and flute. The second track from the fast rhythm even more than the first is "Mecanissimo" (a6) based on a powerful bass riff, hectic percussion and some piano notes on an overall structure rather similar to avant-garde jazz. "Batiskafka" (b1) where metaphysics and reality cross each other thanks to the excellent combination of sound effects, organ, harp, percussion and gong. "Transmutation" (b3), sublime avant-garde music from the slow sonorities, "Obsexion" (b4) dynamic and nervous track because of the obsessive sound repetition of percussion and wind instruments with a hint of exoticism, "Etherisation" (b6) by the lovely notes of the flute that signal the end of the musical journey in the cosmos and the return to the earthly dimension perhaps with a few hopes more.
