VICTIMS OF CHANCE RARE PSYCH UK 1st PRESS B&C STABLE
DESCRIPTION:
On offer with no reserve…
The Self titled UK first pressing of ‘VICTIMS OF CHANCE’ on the UK Stable (B&C) label (The same label as Sam Gopal’s ‘Escalator’.) Released in the US with a totally different cover on the CRESTVIEW label. The Victims of Chance were a fairly freaked out psych band featuring lead vocals from Johnny Kitchen with a sound not too far off from the ‘Fugs’ or perhaps the ‘Mothers.’ This UK pressing very rarely surfaces having only been pressed in very small quantities and sold in even less! . Please see below for sound clips taken from the actual LP for sale, detailed photos and condition report
Label: STABLE / B&C:
CAT NO: SLE 8004
Please Listen To The Sound Clips taken from several cuts on this LP.... Let your ears decide – Turn on your speakers and press play – Enjoy!: (N.B This recording has been made with a very low bit rate - the actual record sounds far better)
CONDITION:
A note on grading I use the Record Collector grading system with the addition of a (+) or a (-) to denote a slight increase or decrease in condition. Items described with an aural grade have been carefully played on a Thorens TD-124 MKII with an SME 3012 Tonearm and Ortofon SPU moving Coil Cartridge.
I have been collecting and trading records for many years and genuinely want you to be happy with your purchase. For this reason I treat grading very seriously and strictly enough to please all potential bidders (See feedback for peace of mind)… All of Audio Grails records are guaranteed. If you'd like any further details, feel free to e-mail me with your questions or requests.
Record:
The deeply seductive full glossy sheen of the surfaces feature a few paper scuffs only under direct angled light. The disk is flat with no warp or buckle of any kind. The wonderful textured B&C labels show light signs of use to the spindle hole only. There is no writing, rips, stickers or other detractors. The audio quality of this pressing is similar to many UK pressings of the time, and is a little disappointing. Having spoken with several high end UK psych sellers I can confirm the sound of this pressing is the same with all UK copies. Overall grave both visually and aurally = EX- (Excellent minus) …Please take the time to study the images above and listen to the sound clips which I hope illustrate the condition of this record far better than wordy descriptions
Cover:
The front laminated cover has retained it’s full colour, the edges are straight and true, the spine is fully legible and the opening edge is sharp. Very minor laminate wrinkle to the top right corner. The unlaminated back cover still retains much of it’s original colour with only the very beginnings of ring wear to the top middle. No seam splits, writing, stickers rips or tears. Overall Grade = EX (Excellent) Please take the time to study the images above for a clear view of condition
