VERY obscure, unknown private experimental school LP Shipping Info  |  S/H info:   Description FRANK POOLER/LONG BEACH STATE A CAPPELLA CHOIR down a different road on LIVING SOUND records (private press out of long beach, ca from 1970/71). one of those 1 in a 300 local private school issue LPs that knocks you out of your chair. side two is traditional choral group selections but pieces on side one are amazing. opener "night speech" (7:15) is a fantastically strange & exotic vocal experiment with bizarre breathing, hissing and chanting vocals that'll send chills up your spine. water effects, shimmering, chiming percusion and horror film electronics add to the mood. "suoni" (7:30) and "tema" (5:45) are more subdued with all-female wordless vocals, piano, flute, crazy crowd noises and a space exotica sound - both very strange, eerie and effective pieces. bought this on a whim after noting the "a new and different music" subtitle and boy, was i shocked once i got home and dropped the needle. good luck guys - somebody out there's gonna love this thing and if only more school music departments had guys like frank pooler! see my other auctions for a cool mix of vintage sounds.
