Uncle Brian’s Record Store - selling the collection of a music enthusiast - is pleased to offer for sale this very rare almost mint condition, WITHDRAWN badfinger album, Wish You Were Here.

Although the album received positive reviews in music magazine Rolling Stone upon its release and is sometimes considered to be the band's best work, it was pulled out of record stores in 1975, seven weeks after release because of a lawsuit between WB music publishing and Badfinger's management. The album's abbreviated manufacturing run and short tenure on the market has made the original LP relatively rare.

It is a real pleasure to be able to offer for auction a great example of the one of Badfingers rarest recordings in amazing condition

The record is in excellent condition showing only a very few light marks and feint wispy hairlines which do not seriously affect the playback of this truly great album. Both sides play excellently throughout. The cover is in Excellent condition with some very light scuffs at the bottom. Labels and sleeve is also in excellent condition. Probably one of the best copies of this album you will find.

The sleeve is generally in excellent condition with a few light scuff marks around the bottom and a slightly bigger scuff on the side (see picture)

The labels are virtually mint, clean and unmarked, with only a very very few feint spindle traces evident.

The album's abbreviated manufacturing run and short tenure on the market has made the original LP relatively rare.

Before being recalled, the album had time enough to chart, peaking at #148 in the US. In the 1990s it was re-released in CD format in Japan and Germany only. The album was eventually released on CD in the US in 2007. Many of the tracks have been released on other Badfinger compilations.

After completing Wish You Were Here, Pete Ham decided to quit Badfinger; he was replaced by keyboardist/guitarist Bob Jackson. However, after Warners indicated that it would drop the band if Ham quit, he decided to return, and the band completed a tour as a five-member group. After the tour, Joey Molland resigned from the band.

Although the next Badfinger album to be released was the Molland/Evans reunion album Airwaves in 1979, Ham, Evans, Gibbins and Jackson recorded an album titled Head First in December 1974, the band's seventh and last album with the original Ham-Evans-Gibbins nucleus that dated back to The Iveys. This album, however, was not released until 2000 due to more lawsuits between WB and Badfinger's management.

Records Are Graded In The Following Way:

MINT (M): The record displays barely any signs of use, if any, with no marks or deterioration in sound quality. Extra items and cover are near perfect.

EXCELLENT (EX): Shows only minor signs of being played with very little lessening in sound quality. The Cover and extras will have some light wear and or creasing

VERY GOOD (VG): Has been played many times but has no major deterioration in sound quality, despite some noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Cover and extras will have normal wear and tear but no major defects

GOOD (G): Has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and any extras may suffer from folding, scuffing, split spine, discoloration etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable and has considerable surface noise and may even jump. Cover and contents will be torn stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly. Covers badly damaged or partly missing

+ or - : Indicates slightly better (+) or slightly lesser (-) condition than main grade

All records are from my Uncle's collection and have been carefully play graded before listing. In many cases he has owned them from new and all have been looked after very well. Please check out my other similar LPs currently listed on eBay.

Packing Procedures: All LPs are securely and well packed in top quality material to avoid any unnecessary damage during transit. When posted the records are removed from the cover, if possible, and placed in a PVC outer protective sleeve to prevent sleeve splits in the post. I use brand new mailers, either the envelope style with thick stiffeners to prevent any sleeve bends in transit, or the "cruciform" style that wrap around the LP. I aim to dispatch all items within 48 hours of receiving payment. It is recommended that you choose the insurance option for higher value items. As stated above I cannot be held responsible for any item(s) lost or damaged in the post that are not shipped via insured / registered mail. I always obtain a certificate proof of posting receipt for every item sent, which will complete our transaction.
