Description

Hi and Welcome!

From my personal collection of 500+ Vinyl Lp's, all of  which I am selling, I have here for sale a very rare, original copy 1st pressing of The Gladiators-Proverbial Reggae from 1978 on the Virgin Frontline Label FL1002. The Vinyl Matrixes on the inner grooves are FL 1002 A1  and B1.

Pressed from the original Master, you won't hear a better version than this. A fantastic album and still my favourite of theirs, having listened to their others.

I have had the album from new and it has been very well cared for and only played with a good quality turntable, arm, cartridge and stylus.

I can say from experience that records cannot be accurately graded without playing them, even new, sealed records. They may look pristine yet have crackles, pressing faults etc.

Having listened to this record all the way through for grading purposes, it plays like a brand new album, with the only sound defect being 2 low level clicks on track 4 of side 1.

Visually, the vinyl is in excellent condition. There is a small, light scratch on side 1, track 4 (hence the 2 clicks) and a light scratch on Side 2, track 1, but this one is inaudible, it cannot be heard.

The condition of the cover is very good. There IS some minor wear to the edges, vinyl ringmarks to the front and back covers and an indented line on the bottom right hand corner of the cover, about 8.5cm in length (I have tried to capture these cover flaws in the photos).

Grading it according to The Vinyl Collectors Grading System (please see towards end of this listing for details of the grading categories and their definitions), I am grading it as follows:-

Vinyl: EX to EX+

Cover : VG

I am confident that the buyer will be extremely happy with how this album plays. It is possibly the best condition vinyl I have played whilst grading my records over the last 4 weeks.

The album will be despatched with the vinyl in an archival quality anti-static, anti-dust/dirt, anti-scratch inner sleeve,  the album cover inside a polythene outer sleeve, all inside a double walled cardboard mailer.

UK deliveries only. Sorry, I will not be mailing to addresses outside of the UK.

Record Collectors Grading System

Mint (M)

The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet. booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records marked as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent (EX)

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good (VG)

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable.

Good (G)

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair (F)

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor (P)

The record will not play properly due to scratched, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad (B)

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
