Decca have taken on a rather large task here but have pull it off with real style. They have dived into some truly vast and vital archives from labels like Decca, Deram, Argo, EMI Columbia/Lansdowne Series, Fontana, Mercury and Philips to pull out a selection of jazz tunes that tells the tale of the era. There are plenty of collectibles here with highly desired recordings from the 60s taking in big band, swing, modal and bee bop styles. This superb collection also includes a rather comprehensive 20,000 word essay detailing a crucial era of British jazz with full track commentaries and plenty of artist biographies.
