In 1984, American hard rock and heavy metal superstars Van Halen released their album titled....'1984'! It was their second album to sell over TEN MILLION copies, here in the US. (The debut album was the first to sell that amount, and more.) '1984' went on to sell over FOURTEEN MILLION copies worldwide! Why, you might ask? It's that good! There's several hits, including "Jump", "Hot For Teacher", "I'll Wait", "Drop Dead Legs", and "Panama". It was also the last to feature original lead singer David Lee Roth...

Roth would, of course, return a few years ago. Sammy Hagar originally replaced Roth, and for one album, Gary Cherone (from the band Extreme) was the lead singer. Long time bassist Michael Anthony was replaced by Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang "Wolfie" Van Halen. The founding brothers, Eddie and Alex VN Halen have been on every single album from the first to the last! Eddie passed away in 2020, and the band has officially retired. Wolfie is in a band now called Mammoth WVH, which is amazing as he plays all of the instruments and sings on the two albums! Mammoth was the name of Van Halen before they became Van Halen. (RIP Eddie. You and Valerie raised a rock star, and he's great. You were truly one of the best guitarists of our lifetime, and I'm so lucky to have seen you and the band in concert several times. We really miss you!)

Up for grabs today is a copy of the Mexican import picture disc LP for the '1984' album! Now these don't come around very often, because there was such a limited number made. Released in 1984. They originally came in a clear PVC jacket, with a stamp on it, but that is no longer available. These go for big buck$, needless to say! All I can say is if you're interested, don't wait too long...

The vinyl itself has plenty of surface marks on both sides, but more on the B side than the A side. There's also some tiny flaws in the manufacturing process, and they didn't shrink the artwork enough, so some things are cut off. (Like the cig the cherub is holding. And a little bit of the name.) But it IS a heavy, thick vinyl. Like a 180 gram vinyl record, so that's always a plus! And it's super, mega rare! Take Eddie, Alex, David, and Michael home with you today, and proudly show off your Van Halen collectible, and have a smoke with the angel boy!
