TITLE : FOCUS
A newly discovered folk/hippyfest DEROY recording from 1973, Doesn't state DEROY on the label, but the standard DER scratch and 911 catalogue number places it beautifully among the other Deroy greats.
Terrific home-made feel to the glossy sleeve, that fold open to reveal pocket area to hold the disc and a write-up regarding the varied performers... the back cover has a great psych King Crimson (B&W) sketch with a picture of a Rugby team... legs, arm, heads, etc. relocated to create havoc.
A collection of musicians and poets come together to create this wonderful slab of plastic, ranging from rough low-tech male lead vocal folk similar to the TONY, CARO & JOHN album released the previous year and some more bouncy female group lead vocal songs, violin/folk instrumental (not fiddle) and poetry (The B'side is mostly poetry)... but some of the poetry is a little bit out-there and some set to folky sounds... all-in-all this has a nice psychedelic feel to it... this reminds me a little of the old Kevin Ayers with Lady June's Linguistic Leprocy stylings on a few.
