PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! Quite scarce UK PLASTIC PENNY artifact LP from the British-only PAGE ONE label that released the "APPLE" 'Apple A Day' LP.
Seldom seen anymore, PLASTIC PENNY carved out a niche releasing popular 45's and two 1968 - 1969 Lp's offering an array of their pop-psych brew, their Mod 60's era tunes offered an array of self-composed teen infectious chart-busting hopefuls in sound and glory with similar UK artists such as 60;s 1st MOVE, IDLE RACE, PICADILLY LINE, and further styles of pop-psych/Mod 60's inflections. Their first LP is noted having a charming appeal within such as "Mrs Grundy" sorting a strong guitarwork not often heard among pop-psych-sters.
Plastic Penny originally came together in the summer of 1967 when the ex 'Universals' members vocalist Brian Keith, organist Paul Raymond and bassist Tony Murray decided to form a new band, The Plastic Penny added guitarist Mick Grabham and drummer Nigel Olsson.
As time passed, Tony Murray broke away and joined The Troggs and also contributed bass to Elton John's "Empty Sky" album. Paul Raymond joined Chicken Shack & Savoy Brown,then heavy rock band U.F.O.
Mick Grabham formed Cochise in 1972, soon becoming a member of Procol Harum. Nigel Olsson's post Plastic Penny career reads like an A-Z of Rock acts!
The musicians were first together recording as "Plastic Penny" creating the now very scarce "Two Sides of a Penny" repeatedly reminding of early Procol Harum. The comparison was spawned by Raymond's organ (which recalled Gary Brooker), Graham's thick distorted guitar which re-called Robin Trower and Keith's vocals which occasionally bore a resemblance to Gary Brooker (check out 'It's a Good Thing').
Produced by Larry Page (the band happened to be signed to Page's "Page One label." The album's actually quite impressive!

Surely, they did a nice job on the two covers. The Pastic Penny's first album is now a rare worthy collectible when talking British pop-psych/sixties rock artifacts.
Recommended for fans of "The Idle Race' , 1st Lp by The Move', 'Piccadilly Lane's "Huge World of Emily Small" and similar "toy-town" "swinging London" sixties gems!
