Description
Up for sale here is an original UK pressing of U2's 'War' album originally used as part of a 'Press kit' one week prior to release in 1983, along with band photo and 2 photocopied documents. Two original photocopied documents are here - one 2 pages in length, the other 3 pages - plus an original gloss promo photo print of the band with photo by Anton Corbijn. One document states that the album will be in stores the following Monday ( February 28th) and the other is a small bio of the band up to that point. Comes with the original 'Island' inner sleeve. Inner sleeve has a 'Sample' sticker top right corner. At the bottom of the back cover is a logo stamp that is quite faded but seems to say 'Multi Media' ? (See photo) I'm guessing that 'Multi Media' are a particular publicist/press office used to promote the record to the press? Not 100% sure on that though. All items are genuine from 1983 - not modern copies.
Stamped matrix numbers are: ILPS 9733 A - 1U - 1 - 1 (There is a marking/symbol at the end but cannot make out what it is) ILPS 9733 B - 1U - 1 - 2 - (There is symbol here also but again, cannot quite make out what it is)
'TOWN HOUSE' is stamped opposite to matrix numbers in the run-out on both sides.
Gate-fold cover is in VG++ condition - well looked after with some mild ageing, slight edge wear and slight creasing to spine. Very clean and sturdy overall.
Vinyl in VG++ condition. Extremely clean!
This record and associated documents have been very well cared for and probably left in storage for many years.
