An incredibly rare copy of U2’s masterwork, The Joshua Tree. This 1987 original US pressing on Island Records is Factory Sealed and has never been opened, handled, or played. Features a standard, minor vintage retail cutout notch on the jacket edge. A spectacular, unplayed time capsule containing one of the greatest albums in rock history!
Released on March 9, 1987, and masterfully produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno, The Joshua Tree transformed U2 from a popular post-punk outfit into the biggest stadium-rock band on the planet. Inspired heavily by America's vast spiritual landscapes, literary grit, and political complexities, the album completely dominated the global airwaves, sweeping the 1988 Grammy Awards to win Album of the Year. It achieved a staggering Diamond RIAA certification and remains preserved in the Library of Congress National Recording Registry.
The album is a flawless, track-by-track clinic in sonic atmosphere. The opening trifecta alone represents one of the most powerful sequences in recording history: the sweeping, organ-intro crescendos of "Where the Streets Have No Name," the gospel-infused yearning of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," and the haunting, infinite-guitar sustain of "With or Without You." Driven by The Edge’s cinematic, delay-soaked guitar architecture, Adam Clayton's hypnotic basslines, Larry Mullen Jr.’s driving rhythms, and Bono’s career-defining vocal delivery, this record defined the literal soundscape of late-1980s alternative rock.
