Description
This is it: the very first ever recording by U2, released well before the elusive Three EP, this Irish Various Artists LP features a unique, otherwise unreleased version of “Stories For Boys”. (According to u2wanderer.org this version is not available anywhere else.)
This record also features The Edge on the track “Something’s Better Than Nothing” by The Teen Commandments. The Edge plays guitar on this track (see u2wanderer.org for more info again - "It is the earliest recorded collaboration by a member of U2 with another act."), a not too well known fact to most U2 collectors. I remember reading that this LP was limited to just a 1,000 copies or less.
This 1979 release also features songs by long-since-gone artists like Berlin, The Atrix, D.C. Nien, Resistors, Sacre Bleu, New Versions, Zebra, Jaroc, Square Meal, Rocky de Valera and the Gravediggers all coming from early Dublin North Ireland local punk, DYI, Rock and New Wave music scene at the time. There is a special thanks to Bob Geldof (yes, Boomtown Rats Bob) for being the ‘Mentor Extraordinaire’.
The vinyl is in excellent condition, the sleeve shows more sign of wear and tear. The lower left corner is torn somewhat. All in all still strong vg+ for the cover and ex+ for the vinyl. You won’t be disappointed.
