RARE Original U.K. ISLAND PROMO One-Sided 45 pressing of U2's 'I Will Follow' (Catalogue Reference: Island WIP 6656 DJ). This is completely legitimate and came with the rare 'Fast Cars' white label I'm also selling this week. This wasn't issued with a picture sleeve but instead came in a standard, blue Island label bag. It is one-sided although there is a label on the B-side which just says 'P.T.O.' in black ink on a standard Island 'sunset' label. Like the 'Fast Cars' 45 this has clearly been played many times and has been enjoyed. I would say there is a slight 'dish' effect but I'd think this is a result of grooves having only been pressed on one side. It still has a great sheen to it and has a 'full', 'rounded' sound when it plays and I certainly didn't detect any clicks or jumps (because there are no marks of substance i.e. which can be felt). All my items are graded under an intense light and here there are numerous hairline scratches. There is a surface scuff which can be seen (just) in daylight and is the result of a spindle brushing across the top of the vinyl surface. The numerous hairline scratches do have an impact on the sound quality on the quieter, run-in grooves but the record plays very well. I'm comfortable with a VERY GOOD grade. It is too good to be GOOD and is respectable and not knackered (I wouldn't sell it if it was).

Concluding Remarks

Please be under no misapprehension – this record has been played many times and enjoyed.  You aren't going to get this and think I should have graded it EX for instance, however, it is still reasonably respectable.  Please check my other auctions for a rare 'Fast Cars' white label 45 from the same source and other rarities. Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!

I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years and would describe my grading as conservative (I think my feedback speaks for itself in this respect(!)).
