Set #3 in our Sonic Arts “Three-Fer” series includes three superb audiophile LP’s -- records that will really put your sound system through its paces -- that were recorded by Golden State Recorders and Mastered by Sonic Arts.  Under the stewardship of San Francisco’s legendary Leo De Gar Kulka, GSR and SAC were home to famous famous performances and recordings that ran the gamut from Janis Joplin to Turk Murphy to Vivaldi.

Mr. Kulka’s Laboratory Series records featured a realistic sounding, “live” recordings beautifully captured in stereo without effects or processing, and a simple, pristine signal chain, precision mastered using a Neumann VMS-70 lathe.  The LP’s were manufactured to the highest standards by Teldec in West Germany and include detailed liner notes about the performance and the technical concept of the recordings.  We are proud to being you these superb vinyl recordings -- great values on original, mint records from the SAC Lab Series Catalog.

“Natural High”.  The world famous Turk Murphy Jazz Band, a 30 year San Francisco institution, performs The Girls Go Crazy, Just Because, Silver Fox Rag, Someday You’ll Be Sorry, Trombone Rag, Flat Foot, Texas Moaner Blues, Careless Love, and I Am Pecan Pete.  With Turk Murphy (trombone), Pete Clute (piano), Chris Tyle (coronet), Bob Helm (clarinet and soprano sax), Bill Carroll (tuba), John Gill (banjo and percussion), and Pat Yankee and Jimmie Stanislaus (vocals).  Recorded on location in 1979 with a Sony PCM 1630 digital 2-track, then transferred directly to the master disk.  Pressed in West Germany by Teldec, in the original box.

76 Pieces Of Explosive Percussion!!!  The Sonic Arts Symphonic  Percussion Consortium (including tuneful tympani, melodic marimbas, syncopated snares, and shimmering celestas) perform Overture In Percussion, Stop Time Rag, Triptych, Japanese Impressions, Log Cabin Blues, and 4/4 For Four.  Aural audacity, an assault on your sound system!  Recorded Direct to Disk in 1976.

“Organasm: (noun) describing he sensual delight and bliss experienced while listening to organ soundings.”  Warren Lubich plays The Mighty Wurlitzer Organ and other Noisemakers.  Selections include Also Sprach Zarathustra (Redwood City organ), It’s A Small World, Chloe, Sonny Boy, Manhattan Beach March, Beer Barrel Polka, Also Sprach Zarathustra (C. Jackling organ), Chattaooga Choo Choo, You’ll Never Know, Kiss Me Again, Beethoven’s Ode To Joy, and Under The Double Eagle March.  Recorded on location with a Sony PCM 1630 digital 2-track, then transferred directly to the master disk.  Warning: play at your own risk!
