Considered by far the strangest and most "art rock" style album that Traffic released, Mr. Fantasy didn't gain much more than a cult following for Traffic at the time. Critics seemed to like the album, though, and most said it was clear that Steve Winwood and Traffic were good at putting together semi-mainstream psychedelic rock, except this album was not quite mainstream enough. By their next release, the eponymous Traffic, the band was said to have worked through that.
The jazz rock style that Traffic would come to be known for was definitely already there, according to most.
This album features even more horns, flutes, and less rock-style instruments than most of Traffic's future releases. The sitar was used much more in this album than any other later Traffic albums, undoubtedly because of Dave Mason's influence.
"Heaven Is In Your Mind" was the first single released. "Dear Mr. Fantasy", a Capaldi/Winwood/Wood track, would be the next.
I am selling a vast collection of lps over the next few months - including Rare Groove, Jazz, Funk, Dance, Rock, Indie, Hip Hop, Soul, R&B from the 60's, 70's, 80's 90's 0's. All are original pressings unless otherwise stated.
M - mint - record as new, shiny- like just went out from factory - played only few times or never; cover as new NM - near mint - record as new, shiny with small almost invisible marks, cover almost as new Ex - excellent - record in great shape, may have light marks, played more than a few times but low in surface noise; cover - may be little cut on corners and edges and little fade in colours, or price stickers. VG+ - very good plus - record played more times, more marks on it, it doesn't skip, more surface noise, cover with marks on the edges, colour has lighten up VG - very good - record has been played many times, more surface noise, but it shouldn't skip while playing; cover - may be more cuts on corners and edges, or little writing or little stickers, and more fading in colours. G - record or cover are in bad condition - worth only like archive items - just to have that until you find better, sometimes when the vinyl is first pressing it sounds much better (especially singles)

Please note that on close reexamination of this lp the cover has slight damage to spine 10mm and a couple of bits of delamination on the top of the gatefold sleeve 5mm each. Thus it should be graded as Ex. The lp is NM except for one small scratch 5mm which does not effect play.
